Michael Cammidge

I'm a director, cinematographer, and development producer based in Toronto. I've been making television since 2008, working across the Canadian and American industries.

Most of that time has been in the field, often in places that don't accommodate a crew. Six seasons directing Heavy Rescue: 401, Discovery Canada's highest-rated original series. Gold mines in the Yukon. Fishing boats in the North Atlantic. Closed highways at 3 a.m. in February. Work for A&E, HBO Max, History, Discovery, and YouTube Originals — a lot of it shot as a single unit, where I was the director, the camera department, and the producer at once.

I also develop. As Development Producer at DiSorbetto in Los Angeles, I originated and built out series in the travel, young adult, competition, and extreme lifestyle spaces, packaging projects for buyers across the US market.

That combination is the point. I can take a concept from a one-line idea through format, structure, and pitch — and then go shoot it. I know what an idea costs in the field, whether access holds up over a season, and which formats break the moment a crew lands.

In 2025 I produced and directed All In, a one-hour comedy special for Comedy Dynamics. I'm currently directing Broken Down, a four-part investigative documentary series in development.
